216 Accountants, KPMG’s former SME practice, has been hit by a data breach. Due to the leak, customer and personal data of customers of the company were temporarily visible to all customers. The email sent to affected customers shows that the company switched to a new customer portal on December 1. The supplier PinkWeb has a file with information temporarily on the old customer portal due to a human error made accessible to all customers of the company. This file contained both customer and personal data. 216 Accountants asked customers who clicked on the file in question to permanently delete the information. The data breach has also been reported to the Dutch Data Protection Authority.
