How do I make a safe copy of ID documents?
With the Central Government’s CopyID app, you can cross out the identity details in a copy of your identity document that organizations do not need or are not allowed to process. This can be, for example, the citizen service number (BSN), but also a passport photo or signature. This depends on the organization and purpose of the copy.
You can also put a watermark in the copy with the app. In this watermark you state the purpose and date of the copy.
You can also add the watermark if you have not crossed out anything. You can then send or print the copy. It is also possible to safely store the edited copy (i.e. if data has been crossed out). That way it is possible to reuse a copy.
