Is Google a smart AI or a snooper?
With a new update, Google is allowing AI to scan all your photos via Google Photos and Gemini. Using “Personal Intelligence,” AI can link your photos, emails, and calendar for personalized results.
This allows Gemini to automatically create images using real photos of you and your surroundings. The goal is for AI to immediately understand who you are and what you want. This increases ease of use, but also entails significant privacy risks.
Your entire photo library (often thousands of images) can be analyzed. Google states that your data is not directly used to train AI models. However, limited data and interactions are used to improve systems.
The feature is opt-in, but requires a conscious choice due to sensitive content. This is, of course, a powerful innovation, but you are trading convenience for a deeper insight into your private life.
