Minister Grapperhaus: “Lock the digital back door!”

74% of the Dutch have had to deal with some form of cybercrime at home, while this was still the case in 2017 65.6%. Minister Grapperhaus of Justice and Security is concerned that many people are still not really aware of the risks in the digital world. The devices and apps that communicate with each other via the internet such as smart TVs, smart lamps, cameras and thermostats also present many risks at the moment.

The Top 3 security measures people take at home are: install antivirus software (43%), make passwords more complex (31%) and checking websites for HTTPS (31%). 40% of the Dutch do not really want to improve their online security.
